Sutoor turns speech from recordings and audio or video files into written text. This page explains what data we handle, how we use it, who we share it with, and when we delete it.

Summary

• The app needs no account. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number.
• Your transcripts are stored only on your phone.
• Audio is sent to our servers and to our transcription provider to be converted to text, and is deleted from our servers once transcription finishes.
• No ads, no tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell data.

Data we handle

Audio you choose to transcribe. When you record or pick a file, the app uploads the audio to our server for transcription. For videos, the app extracts the audio on your phone first; the video itself is not uploaded.

Transcripts. Kept on our server only until the app receives them, then deleted there. After that they exist only on your phone, where you can edit or delete them.

A random device identifier. Created on first launch and stored in the phone's secure storage. We use it to count free minutes and to link each transcription to your device. It is not tied to your identity or Apple Account.

Usage data. Alongside that identifier we store only the number of seconds transcribed, no content.

App verification data. We use Apple's App Attest to confirm requests come from the genuine Sutoor app on a real device. For this we store a public key generated by Apple, which contains no personal data.

Technical logs. Our server records operational details such as request time and outcome to diagnose problems. They contain no audio or text and are deleted automatically within days.

Permissions on your phone

• Microphone: used only during a recording you start.
• Photos: the app can access only the video you select, through Apple's picker.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app:

• ElevenLabs: speech-to-text. Receives the audio to be transcribed. We ask it to delete each transcript as soon as we receive it, and we have opted out of our content being used to train its models. ElevenLabs may retain some data for a limited time under its privacy policy.
• Cloudflare: server hosting, temporary audio storage, and backup transcription if the main service is unavailable.
• Apple: app integrity checks (App Attest) and app distribution.

Retention and deletion

• Audio on our servers: deleted as soon as transcription finishes; anything left over is deleted automatically within one day.
• Transcripts on our servers: deleted once the app receives them, or automatically within one day if never collected.
• Audio on your phone: deleted by the app once the text is saved.
• Transcripts on your phone: kept until you delete them or the app.
• Random identifier and usage data: kept to count free minutes and subscriptions; they contain nothing that identifies you.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes

If we add features that change how we handle data, we will update this page and its date before they go live.
